Downtown ARP - Town of Canmore + BOWDA Engagement Session - July 17, 2024

Overview:

• The Town of Canmore is developing an Area Redevelopment Plan (ARP) to create a long-term plan for the Town Centre, through a process called Connect Downtown. The first phase of work was “Visioning”, which involved broad stakeholder and community engagement to create a Vision Document to guide the planning process.
• Connect Downtown is now in the second phase of work (“Options”), and the Town has prepared a series of strategies that can be implemented over the next 25 years in support of the Vision. 
• The Town would like to engage BOWDA on some of the key strategies that may impact development, with particular focus on the proposed Area Concept—which articulates an updated land use plan and transportation network.  

Possible agenda:

• Presentation (30 min) – Overview of work done to date, proposed strategies, land use concept, transportation network, and next steps.
• Discussion (30 min) – Opportunity for BOWDA members to share their perspectives on key elements that may impact development and provide input into the process and draft policy.
